We’re delighted to share another feature highlighting the work and experiences of our dedicated course tutors. Here, our AutoCAD and Revit specialist, Okan Babatunde, shares his insights and enthusiasm for teaching.
What has surprised you most during your career?
How quickly technology has evolved and completely changed the game! Tech innovations keep bringing fresh challenges and chances to develop my skills. I’ve also been amazed by the range of places I’ve worked and the people I’ve met. Every project shows me something new.
What do you enjoy most about being part of The Survey School?
What makes it special is its lively learning atmosphere and the staff who are always ready to help. There’s a very supportive vibe. Being a tutor here inspires me to keep improving my teaching style and stay up-to-date.
What’s your favourite piece of surveying equipment?
It would definitely be the laser scanner. Its accuracy and ability to grab huge amounts of data in no time. They make workflows smoother and open up new ways to analyse and present data. They’re especially valuable for heritage preservation projects because they create a non-invasive 3D archive and enable significant time and cost savings.
If you could give one piece of career advice to a young surveyor, what would that be?
Stay curious. Keep-up with the latest methods and really don’t be afraid to ask questions.
What was one of the proudest days of your work life?
When I decided to start my own consulting business, it pushed me to another level and was a huge turning point, giving me the chance to build my own career path.
What do you find most challenging?
Staying up-to-date with industry standards and software, whilst also delivering projects accurately, efficiently and on time.
